Celebration

Nithya Saadhana!! This name and the Centre kindle the memories of many beneficiaries and well wishers.  Nithya Saadhana crossed one decade. Hence it is the celebration time.

On 1st February 2020, at KASSIA hall, around 300 guests, consisting of parents of the trainees, NGO’s employers, old students of Nithya Saadhana and well wishers, gathered and joined the celebration along with Chief Guest, Mr. Basavaraju, State commissioner of Disabilities, other dignitaries, Dr. Jagadisha Thirthalli, Head of Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services, NIMHANS, Mrs.Sushma from VRC and Directors of Techser Power Solutions.

Dr. Meena Jain, one of the members of the advisory committee & the strength of Nithya Saadhana, acted as DJ of the day with a lot of enthusiasm. The welcome speech was delivered by Mrs. Hema Nataraj followed by a report on the completion of ten years by Mrs. Beena Krishnamurthy. The dignitaries inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. Each one of the dignitaries’ address was full of encouragement and support for Nithya Saadhana and the efforts by the trustees.

Video clippings of the employers talking about the persons with IDD employed by them, was presented to the audience. The dignitaries, ex trainees’ employers, trainers, old students and CLOVE volunteers, were honoured with Mementoes.

A slide show on the vocational training program conducted at Nithya Saadhana was presented. Certificates to the candidates who attended the VISTA program, (training for Job Coaches) were distributed by the chief guest.

The pinnacle of the program was a wonderful fashion show by the current trainees of Nithya Saadhana. This memorable event was concluded with a bow by the successful employees trained at Nithya Saadhana.

In this competition, children various special schools, located in different places in Bangalore, take part in various events. In this year, about 1000 children participated with enthusiasm in the various events.

The trainees of NITHYA SAADHANA volunteereed during the 3 day event by distributing art materials, and assisting the judges and the participants. The volunteers were felicitated during the closing ceremony  by the President of IRC, Mr. Ramesh.

Nithya Saadhana completed 7 years of its work in February 2017, and to celebrate this momentous occasion, it organized a get together attended by the parents of the trainees.

For parents of youth with Intellectual Developmental Disorder, the thought of their children’s sexual health exists in their mind but they often feel inhibited to talk and discuss about it.  During this event, Dr Venkatlakshmi,  Associate Professor, Department of Human Development and Research Centre, Smt VHD Central Institute of Home  Science spoke to the parents about Sexual Health – Role of parents and professionals. During her talk, she discussed the different stages of the physical developmental and changes in the behavior in adolescents.

She was surprised by the questions posed by the trainees and the free interaction they had with their parents.  The parents and trainees found her session very useful and interesting and appreciated the efforts made by her to answer their queries.

On 28th December 2015, all the trainees and faculty had a refreshing day out at the Miraya Greens, Bannerghatta Road. As soon as we arrived around 10 a.m., we were treated to a welcome drink, a bottle of water and snacks.

Then the fun and activities started with Mr. Rafeeq, taking full charge of the group. They were introduced to all the activity centres and then divided into three groups. The teachers accompanied each group.

Nithya Saadhana celebrated its 5th year Annual sports meet, which was arranged at Gandhi Park. Parents were invited for the event. All the trainees from the start of the day were very enthusiastic. We had different games such as running race, relay, French cricket for boys, lemon and spoon and musical chair. Each and every trainee participated in the events. Even parents encouraged them by applauding their efforts.

For this event the chief guest was Mr Mallikarjuna Bommai of TRANSTECH and Mrs.Shubhashree and Mrs.Sushma from VRC. Mr Bommai spoke on the occasion and said he was very impressed by the trainees’ participation. He gave away the prizes to the winners.

Nithya Saadhana celebrated children’s day on the terrace of the centre. Some of our trainees performed skit on Kurukshetra yuddha. Every one enjoyed the play. They played games, had lunch and had a nice time. We were surprised and overjoyed by the performance of the trainees.

Nithya Saadhana celebrated its 4th anniversary as sports day at Gandhi Park, Vijayanagar on 17/01/2014. All the trainees participated with lot of enthusiasm.

The events included for the day were Running Race, Lemon and the spoon, balancing the book. The trainees were divided into two groups: juniors and seniors. The chief guests for the day were Mr.M.G.Sathya, Television personality and Mr.S. Ravikanth, Secretary, The Chamarajpet Education Society.

The winners were given the trophies and the medals for first, second and third place respectively. The parents who also actively participated in the event gave away the prizes.
